Rodney Hinton: I Understand

I’m not saying I would’ve done it, but I understand. Rodney Hinton, a devastated Black father who watched his 18 year-old son be murdered by police, went out two hours later and plowed his car into a sheriff’s deputy who was directing traffic. Two hours after watching his son be killed by police, he killed an officer. Any father would be despondent, but for a Black father there’s also the years and years of worrying that this might happen. Years of knowing that the police could take your son away at any moment and nothing would happen and then, one day, it did. After watching that video, he was broken. So Hinton did what so many of us have dreamt of doing. He got back at the police. And like Luigi Mangione, he committed a political assassination.
